Subscription terms
Scoville Ladder is free to download. The reference library, the research notes and the calibration are free to use. The training programme is available through an auto-renewable subscription at $0.99 per month, charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase.
The subscription renews automatically unless it is cancelled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours of the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel the subscription in Settings → your name → Subscriptions, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for. There is no free trial and no introductory offer.
Refunds are handled by Apple, not by us, at reportaproblem.apple.com.
What the app is, and is not
Scoville Ladder gives dietary guidance about eating chili peppers. It is not a medical device, it does not diagnose or treat anything, and nothing in it or on this site is medical advice.
Capsaicin does not damage the stomach lining, but it can genuinely aggravate reflux, IBS and existing gastrointestinal conditions, and individual reactions vary. You are responsible for what you choose to eat. The programme prescribes rest and never asks anyone to exceed a level they have reported as their limit — but it cannot know your medical history. If you have a condition that food heat affects, talk to a doctor before starting, and stop if something feels wrong.
Accuracy of the figures
Scoville values published in the app and on this site are commonly cited averages. Real heat varies several-fold with growing conditions. Treat every figure as the middle of a wide range rather than a specification.
